Jio launches JioTVCamera for Jio Fiber set-top-box in India
Reliance Jio has launched a new product to enable Jio Fiber users to make video calls. Dubbed as JioTVCamera, the device can be attached to Jio set-top-box to make video calls to Jio numbers and audio calls to all mobile and landline numbers.
The JioTVCamera device is priced at Rs 2,999 and is available on Jio’s official website. The telecom operator is also offering an EMI option for purchasing this accessory starting at Rs 141.17. Jio is offering 1 year of warranty for the device.
Using this accessory, Jio Fiber customers will be able to use the screen of their TVs to make calls. They will require JioCall app to facilitate these calls. In order to make a call, Jio users will have to follow these steps:
1. Connect the camera to the set-top-box
2. Reboot the Jio set-top-box
3. Set up the landline number on the JioCall app through an OTP process
Jio users do not require a separate installation, as per Jio’s website. Users can simply plug in the USB end of the camera to the USB port of the set-top-box.
In terms of technical specifications, the JioTVCamera offers 1/2.7-inch CMOS sensor with 120 degree Field-of-View and focal length of 3.1mm. It requires 5V USB power supply input voltage and has a power consumption of 1.3W. It measures 118mm x 37.2mm x 30.8mm and weighs 0.093 kg.
The listing page of the JioTVCamera on Jio’s website states that users will be able to receive it in three to five business days. In case the product is damaged, defective or not as described, it is offering easy replacement within 7 days of delivery.
The company launched its set-top-box in August 2019 and made it officially available for users in December 2019.
